So! Now that SASO is underway, I figured I'd make a list of the things I like for easy baiting! I'm going to go ahead and say that the absolute easiest way is to prompt my favourite ships from Kuroko no Basuke. For the sake of variety, though, I'm going to list everything. If you'd like, I also have tropes I like listed at the bottom.

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

for pie, who I love most

This isn't set after The King of Eternal Flame, but it would help to have read that one first.

I see quite a few people on the internet whose pronoun of choice is "they"

Which. I don't know. Makes me happy.

In related news, I think I am gradually learning what makes me feel comfortable \o/

In less related news I THINK I MIGHT ACTUALLY FINISH THIS BAND AU BEFORE I FALL ASLEEP TONIGHT????

» I decided that I'm doing Camp NaNoWriMo during July! Planning to write a 50k Les Misérables fic provided I'm still extremely invested in that fandom, otherwise I have a back-up original story.

I realised today that I feel worse about dropping out of big bangs than I do about cancelling plans with friends (or friends cancelling plans with me) - I guess I use my word count and the fleeting sense of achievement as a measurement of my worth, rather than whether or not people actually like me as a person.

And the thing is, people liking my writing is just… a bonus? So it's not exactly one of those things where strangers' approval outweighs the approval of people you're familiar with (which is always the case, thanks social psychology).

The harder I think about it, the more confusing it gets, though. I guess my point is that I like writing and I don't really like people, which I'm sure comes as a huge shock to everyone.

And I've developed the habit of committing to things without actually 100% intending to follow through with all of them, the way I used to? I don't know. Maybe this is a PSA.

MERDERER

» the soulbonding fic I am writing is so big that it's kind of terrifying. I'm currently writing scene 8 and there are 19 scenes planned. I've been averaging 1.4k per scene which gives me a projected word count of 26.6k? I was hoping to have it done by the end of the week but hmm, maybe not. Probably not.

» signed up for [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang. [personal profile] piecrumbs gave me a fun idea that I will enjoy picking at until I can extract an actual plot from it.

» also have an idea of how to begin my [community profile] scifibigbang fic! Which I should do soon.

» I have so many fic ideas, I really need to start writing faster.

Writing list with deadlines. Self-imposed or otherwise.

» Fri May 10: E/R soulbonding
» Sat Jun 1: Seven Circles
» Tue Jun 18: Heroes & Villains themed SSBB
» Sun Jun 30: Les Mis/Temeraire fusion for [community profile] scifibigbang
» Sun Jun 30: amnesty tables for [community profile] trope_bingo

I'm grabbing a gen table, a smut table and an AU table for trope bingo.

which I will throw under a cut )

Still eying [livejournal.com profile] dcu_bang and [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang at the moment, both of which will be due Wed Aug 28. I have two days to decide. Uhhhh. I'll make a decision tomorrow?
kiyala: the end of an ornamental key (STOCK - key)
I was meant to have my [livejournal.com profile] harlequinbbang fic finished by Friday. I did not. As it currently stands, I need to finish scene six and then write four more scenes. That gives me a total tentative word count of 16~18k.

I really hate not meeting deadlines. I've developed a (bad) habit of living from deadline to deadline every few months. I have a fic I need to write for [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetsu due next week and unlike this big bang where I just needed to submit a rough draft, I need to have a complete version of it written and submitted by next Tuesday.

My writing schedule's been thrown off. I get into the worst headspace when my writing schedule's been thrown off.

I need time.

Time without deadlines. Time that I can use however I wish without fearing that I'm wasting it because I need to be doing something or the other.

I don't think I have any deadlines in May. I'll look forward to May.

Or maybe I'll just spend May writing things that are due in June.

a run down

» I'm still sick, which is a little annoying

» Damian Wayne is dead, which makes me sad. I read Batman Incorporated #8 and while I did not understand the whole story because I haven't read the proceeding seven issues, it was still upsetting. The final panel was Batman holding Robin's dead, broken body and while the art style wasn't great, it really outlined the fact that Damian was so tiny in Bruce's arms. He was ten years old. He was just a little boy. I was fine all the way through that issue, even when Damian was pleading with Talia to call off the attack, but then I sat and looked at that last panel and really thought about it, and that was what made me cry.

» Lasya linked me to this, in which Trigon has possessed Tim? DCnU Tim is dead to me anyway, because he's not the Tim Drake I know and love, but oh, that picture, after yesterday's Batman Inc. Also, Trigon being around might mean Raven's around? I love Raven, but not enough to read Teen Titans.

» I bought my Melbourne Supanova ticket! I got the Middle Earth Magic ticket which set me back $250, but Dean O'Gorman (Fili), Graham McTavish (Dwalin), Stephen Hunter (Bombur) and Karl Urban (…does he even need character names in brackets? Incidentally, I did not realise he played Judge Dredd until just then) are going to be there. I get a weekend pass plus a group photo with the three dwarves, priority queuing to buy signature/photo tokens and other shiny things. I hope I can get Dean to sign my DVD of The Almighty Johnsons season 1. That would be cool.

» Melbourne Supanova is just going to be cool in general, though. I mean, aside from all the Tolkien squee, Gail Simone & Nicola Scott will be there, Michael Rosenbaum is going to be there, and a whole bunch of other cool people. Also, Raymond E Feist is going to be at Sydney Supanova :D I have until mid-June to finish reading Riftwar and decide which of my three copies of Magician I want to get signed.

» My [community profile] tentaclebigbang draft is due today. It needs to be 10k (well, draft has to be 8k but I'd like it to be done) and I have a little less than 2k, so I should get on that.

» In other writing related news, I submitted a story for the February issue of Shousetsu Bang*Bang, which you can read here. It's not the best story, because I basically rushed to have it written in three or four days, but I had some help to make it the best it could be, which I am very thankful for. Next issue is a femslash special, which I've already started writing, but I have tentacle big bang and then harlequin big bang due first, and then I've got two weeks to focus on my next SSBB story. I'm really liking it so far, and I can't wait to write more. (I may also have. At least three more issues' stories planned out already. I know, you're all dying of surprise right now)

» TENTACLE BIG BANG. Gonna make some tea and change into warm, comfy writer clothes (what are writer clothes, you ask? everything is writer clothes, just add writing!) and write about Loki being fucked by a tentacle monster while Thor watches and wishes his brother was on his cock instead. \o/

» Note to self: once you have the time to spare, please reorganise all of the folders on your computer. All of them.

They say to write what you know,
but I wonder if it still applies
when all you know is how to catch insects
and boil them in stew.

First the spiders, boiling
until their bodies soften to goo,
and the grubs for extra body
with crushed beetles on top

Oh, to enjoy it by candlelight
in the middle of a summer's day
when the sun is bullying
the moon into submission

We too, wither and shrivel
and crack and peel apart
until we can see the inside
of each other's frail souls.

It's an unpleasant sight at best,
a tremendous relief at worst
to know we aren't the only ones
struggling to make any sense.

But never mind the stress
and the discomfort too,
just shut up and enjoy
this mixed-insect stew.
