playing with the other's hair

Kaoru might hate the sun and the sand and the sea, but he loves the beach.

Specifically, he loves Kojiro at the beach. It's why he agrees to so many holidays where he spends hours sitting under a beach umbrella with his tablet in his hands, because it guarantees that Kojiro will be happily after spending just as many hours in the water. It means Kojiro will be exhausted enough to spend the next couple of hours lying in bed, not quite asleep but comfortably dozing, and Kaoru will never complain about the opportunity to have quiet moments like these, with Kojiro's warmth and weight against him and nowhere to be.

He's finishing an article he was reading at the beach, his fingers stroking through Kojiro's hair. The saltwater always makes Kojiro's hair curl a little more wildly and Kaoru is never going to admit that he likes it but Kojiro must know anyway, from the way he's always so deliberate about catching Kaoru staring.

Putting his tablet down, Kaoru puts both hands into Kojiro's hair, stroking it back out of his face the way he wore it at the beach when it was slicked with water. He lets it go, watching as it falls back into Kojiro's face, and smiles to himself. Kojiro doesn't stir, so Kaoru strokes his fingers through Kojiro's hair again, pressing down firmly with the tips of his fingers and earning a soft sigh. He leans in, kissing Kojiro's forehead, and lets his hair go again.

"Having fun there?" Kojiro asks without opening his eyes.

Kaoru squawks in surprise and nearly falls off the bed. He glares at Kojiro accusingly. "You were awake."

"And you stopped." Kojiro pouts. "You can do it again. You can even do it when I'm awake, if you want. I know you love me. I promise I'll keep it a secret so no one else knows that you really do have feelings."

"You're pushing your luck," Kaoru warns, but drops another kiss onto his forehead anyway. "I'll think about it."
