"I've changed my studio's opening hours," Kaoru says apropos of nothing as he climbs into bed on Sunday night. "I'm now closed on Mondays."

 

"You are?" Kojiro sits up and turns to him. "Since when?"

 

"From tomorrow." Kaoru rolls his eyes. "Were you not listening?"

 

Kojiro knows that it's not anywhere close to the impulsive decision that Kaoru is making it out to be. Kaoru doesn't do impulsive things. Not like this. Not when there are appointments booked in advance that would have needed rescheduling, classes that needed to be rearranged, and an entirely weekly schedule that Kaoru has been running like clockwork for years that needed to be readjusted.

 

"Are you serious?" Kojiro asks softly, and he clenches their quilt in his fists because suddenly, he can feel his hands shaking. 

 

Kojiro only has one full day off during the week. Mondays are the only day he can disengage from work entirely. For years, it's something that they've simply found a way to work around. As friends, they would spend nights drinking together after hours at the restaurant. As lovers, they've moved in together to maximise the time they get to spend with each other despite their clashing schedules. And now…

 

"I love you," Kojiro murmurs, lying down beside Kaoru and pulling him close. He buries his face into the curve of Kaoru's neck, breathing him in. 

 

With a soft chuckle, Kaoru strokes his hair. "I love you too."
